Staying In
While Dublin’s city center has plenty to explore, Luttrellstown Castle and Castleknock Hotel allow guests to explore a different side of the city. Check out some of the recommendations for things to do in and around your hotel below.
Castleknock Hotel
Castleknock Hotel is located just minutes from Dublin and offers guests a variety of ways to explore or relax.
Feeling hungry? The hotel features two award-winning restaurants, a bar, and a heated patio overlooking the golf course (voted best outdoor dining in Ireland!). Enjoy some delicious food or unwind with a refreshing drink and take in the amazing Irish scenery. For more on dining at Castleknock Hotel, please click here.
Feeling a bit jet-lagged? Castleknock offers guests plenty of opportunities to relax with its day spa and wellness center. The day spa offers a variety of packages from day passes and massages to quicker services like manicures and pedicures. Tonic Health Club, also located on-site, has a fully equipped gym, fitness studio, swimming pool, toddler pool, sauna and jacuzzi. You can find more information about the spa here, and the wellness facilities here.
Feeling like some time outside? Over twice the size of Central Park and considered one of the largest designed landscapes in any European city, Phoenix Park is a massive draw for any visitors to Dublin. From its Victorian Tea Rooms, to the Farmleigh Estate, to an 18th century British Fort, the park is home to plenty of activities (and about 600 fallow deer). Learn more about Phoenix Park here.
Feeling like hitting the links? Castleknock is situated on a stunning 18-hole golf course. The course offers club rentals, so feel free to pack light. Rounds can be organized with hotel staff or booked online with mid-week guest tee times starting at €50. Check out more on golfing at Castleknock here.
Luttrellstown Castle
The Castle is located about 5 minutes from Castleknock Hotel, meaning castle guests can enjoy many of the same activities as Castleknock guests like golfing or exploring Phoenix Park.
Luttrellstown Castle itself is located on a 567-acre private estate, creating seemingly endless opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. The castle offers bicycles for you to explore the estate, or you can opt to pack your lunch and explore the estate on foot. Luttrellstown’s trails wind through walled gardens, historical ruins, a serene lake, and beautiful views of the glen, which runs down to the River Liffey. Activities like fishing, falconry, and golfing can be arranged directly by the castle at an additional cost.
For anyone looking to grab a bite to eat, breakfast will be provided each morning in the Kentian Room. Head down to the Club House at Luttrellstown Castle Golf Course to enjoy a drink or a casual bite to eat at The Spike Bar or The Club Bar, or enjoy modern, locally-sourced cuisine at The Rugged Lane.
